Insert title here--I'm drawing a blank
A funny thing about my life is that from the outside it evidently appears to be very jet-setty and exciting. And there definitely are those aspects to it at times. Sometimes I feel like I'm traveling all the time and doing neat things, and I have been out of a typical 9-to-5 job long enough that I now take for granted the idea that I can do whatever the hell I want, whenever the hell I want.
But those exciting times are punctuated with bouts of real low-key-ness. Lately things have been pretty low key. I'm content, but kind of boring. One piece of news is that the Petranek Fitness burpee challenge is HISTORY! Today was day 100 and we did 100 burpees for time in class this morning, for a total of 5050 burpees over the past 100 days (and actually, significantly more than that, because I would sometimes do more than the required number in my workouts). I didn't even care about my time; it was somewhere around 10 minutes, which is slower than my baseline time of 9:36. Meh. I knew I had gotten slower. I'm happy I didn't get significantly slower. The burpees just got really tiring as the numbers increased, not just physically, but psychologically too. I think I may have carpal tunnel syndrome, and I have achy shoulders. I already told Becca that for the foreseeable future, if there are burpees in a workout, I'm going to boycott them. She basically gave me her blessing and implied that she was going to do the same thing.
But of course I'll be the first to sign up for the next 100 day challenge; we've been assured that there will be another one.
Another cool thing coming up is the women's grappling camp I'll be teaching at in February. Felicia is running it at http://www.bjmuta.com, and she, Emily Kwok and I will be the main instructors, though I think a couple other high-ranked women will be there too. There are about 25 people signed up, so it's gonna be a lot of fun!
The Gracie National tournament is next weekend as part of the LA Fitness expo. I haven't decided whether I'll be competing--I may have mentioned that I'm experiencing a competition twitch again recently. But I may also have mentioned that I don't know whether that's because I really want to compete or because, as I may also have mentioned, things are quiet these days and I feel like there's no movement on certain things I'd like there to be movement on. But I'll be going to the tourney either way; I like to be around competition even if I'm not participating. And there will be some students from New Breed competing, so I'll go to cheer them on.
And in a hey-let's-bury-the-lead move, you may think I haven't been blogging much. This is true. But this doesn't mean I haven't been writing. I have, in fact, been working on a book proposal about my odyssey. So all my pith and smarm is going into that. I'll keep you posted.

I'm looking forward to your smarmy book. Now I got to use smarm, too. Twice! All before noon! I'm calling it a day, going back to bed.
