Prancing and Sucking

I quit my job, sold my home, and drove around the country in the summer and fall of 2006, training BJJ, finding myself, and landing in LA. I still travel a lot and get to train in amazing places. Some of my friends are irritated that I "prance" around the world and think I "suck" for doing so.

Tells you where my brain is

On the way home from my conditioning class this morning, I was driving behind a mini-van sporting a huge, back-window-sized sticker that said, "Ask Me about the Guard" and included a phone number. I immediately assumed it was a grappling school. Then I realized it was probably a reference to the NATIONAL Guard. (And no, that's not a grappling term either.)

I am ACHY today. It's a combo of Angie aftermath and rolling really hard the past couple days. The intensity level around the academy seems to be higher lately, which makes sense seeing as how the PanAms are only a couple weeks away. But it's taking its toll on my old bones.

Marlene, a white belt around here (who hasn't been in very much recently), is taking a film/video editing class, and she asked if I would be willing to be the subject of a multimedia project for one of her assignments. So she came to class Mon and Tues to take pictures of me while I trained and then interview me about why I do BJJ and the effect it has had on my life. I think I talked more than she wanted me to. But it's an editing course, so she'll get some good practice. I'll post it here when it's done.
