Prancing and Sucking

I quit my job, sold my home, and drove around the country in the summer and fall of 2006, training BJJ, finding myself, and landing in LA. I still travel a lot and get to train in amazing places. Some of my friends are irritated that I "prance" around the world and think I "suck" for doing so.

Here we go part 2!

Purple and brown belts today. My weight division is in a couple hours. Headed to the academy to check my weight and then to the venue to compete.

It was a long and exciting day yesterday. A few congratulations are in order:

To Jonathan, who took second in his division. I didn't see all his matches, but basically nobody was able to pass his guard, and it brought him silver. Hooray, Jonathan!

To John, aka Big Ugly, who took second in his division. He triangled somebody, had a sweet takedown on somebody else, and eventually brought home the silver. I have a picture of him that I'll post later. John, you did great!

And last but not least, to Vince, who ran through a HUGE division (we're talking about 80 competitors), submitting his first 5 opponents with brabo chokes and his 6th with a guillotine, before losing on points in the finals to take second. I was going to say I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw him get brabo after brabo, but it's Vince. He came to play, and he did. I'm so happy for you, Vince!

Congratulations to everyone who fought and won, and also to those who fought and lost. You get tons of credit for going out there.

More later. Right now, scale.
