Congrats Felicia and Cristina!
Felicia breezed through her competition to take first place at the FILA tournament in the 121 and under division, with a couple submissions and a win on points. And since she beat Cristina, aka Midget Twista from the forum, in the second round (the points win for Felicia), Cristina had a long road back to take 3rd, which she did. In style, with 3 submissions and one DQ b/c the opponent didn't show up. So both of them are off to Turkey in September to represent the US at the first World Grappling Games.
HOORAY for Felicia and Cristina!!! Hooray for women's grappling.
I compete tomorrow. There are only four women in my division total, but pound for pound, we are the biggest women's division--158 and under, you see, as opposed to the 138 or 121 and under divisions. I weighed in at a strapping 145. I feel good. Watching today I got really itchy to compete. So that's a good sign. More later.

Hooray to you too, looks like fighting at your walking weight isn't a problem, champ! From onthemat.com's live reports:
Valerie Worthington (New Breed) over Elaina Maxwell (Unattached) via D'Arce choke at 2:26.
-Val wastes no time displaying another one of her crisp hip tosses, sending her MMA veteran counterpart hard to the mat with style gaining 2 points for the throw and 3 for landing in side control passed Elaina's guard. From side control, Val used great pressure to immobilize Maxwell and sink a pretty D'Arce choke to force the tap out submission and win the Women's 72 kg division.
Elaina Maxwell fights outta Cung Le's USH camp?
Congrats on the win, Val!!!
